Winter 2013, Barak Valley

Mumbai is not so hot and winter also doesn't touch it much... I was waiting to see once again "Alakh Kaku's" shop almost invisible from our terrace at home in Lala Bajar. Honestly speaking I am extremely... super bored staying in Mumbai. In no way I can connect myself to that metro. So I was waiting to reach home on the new-year's eve. Every time I plan to visit home, and pack my luggage my expectations keep on increasing exponentially during my travel... but on reaching home, it actually drops down to zero and even cross the zero-level towards negative ! The reason is a "over discussed" topic so I don't wanna bore you too ! In simple sentence, I can say that its like the dream that Sandipan discussed with me, he saw his home was erased from the ground leaving an vast empty field (but actually this feeling is not bad) !

This time the difference was after long wait and fight I actually bought my own camera, I remember, from our childhood days how we borrowed cameras (roll) from others and studios and shoot the "katakhal", those days our rolls used to roll from Lala Bajar to Silchar and after approximately a week we could see what we shot almost a few months back !!! This time I had my camera and lots of plan in my head to capture the smoky face of the unimportant lands of Barak Valley... Unfortunately I could not see fog much and in this album "Winter 2013, Barak Valley" one won't feel the "winter" much, as except "11th Jan 2013" other days and nights were moderately cold and even the 11th day of january being cold was not foggy at all ! So ultimately this whole home-visit was not a success, but I tried to pick up some places which keeps the passion of "winter" in them !

For me winter is not just a season but a way to escape the real dull world... some how the foggy mornings and the smoky distant villages... after the vast empty fields gives me hope to slip through the holes of uninteresting dull and frustrating reality to other worlds... "winter" is a portal of hope !

  1. Oshadharan, darun... monehochche cheye thaki... Goduli was appealing... By the way, I always look forward to reading your blog. A touch disappointing, that you write so very seldom. This is a nice topic. In fact, I have always considered winter as the most romantic of seasons. Perhaps my perception can be largely attributed to its moderate nature in the Eastern part of India. I have this perception as well, though I may be wrong here, that people appear more lively and cheerful than in any other seasons. A lethargy that steals on us is a little sweet one. A winter-twilight, I mean the kind we get to see in our villages, is simply enthralling. The evening bonfire somewhere in the backyard is a pure delight. Everything, every aspect of life in winter becomes delightful. Oh I suddenly recall, your Jui was a real treat to watch, the blurred image of a girl at a window, made it truly amazing.

  2. No you are not wrong, "people appear more lively and cheerful than in any other seasons", I agree completely... this is my perception too... in fact shamelessly I can confess, I also feel like appearing good in the mirror in winter ! Its true that nature is greener in other seasons but somehow this least green and more grey and smoky and sepia surrounding appear to me more romantic. Its funny to mention that I have lived all the seasons in my childhood, but I feel more nostalgic in the winter... as if I spent my whole childhood in a single season and that is winter.... funny isn't it ? But true... at least for me...
